Part 3
STUDENT SHORT FILMS FROM DOCUMENTARY FILM LADAKH WORKSHOP 2023
1. Memories of Home (11:13/Docu/2023) - Stanzin Angu
Memories of Home is a story about the old stone and mud houses of Ladakh. Since ancient times, these
homes were entirely made from locally sourced materials, designed to meld into the mountainscape in
harmony with nature. The Director is transported back to his grandmother’s now abandoned home,
reliving childhood memories of a time when he lived and played there. It dawns on him that Ladakhis
aren't building such homes anymore, and he wonders if these houses will vanish forever and live on only as memories.
2. Echelon Threads (17:40/Docu/2023) - Achin Phulre
Experience life on the rugged Changthang plateau, where each day is a symphony of tradition and
survival. Witness as dawn unveils the delicate art of combing pashmina wool from goats, followed by
men guiding herds to graze at 5400m. Women masterfully weave sheep wool into carpets and garments
and Pashmina, sold to co-ops and buyers, carries dreams. Amidst breathtaking altitudes, resilience, and
rich meals, this documentary paints a vivid portrait of a timeless community crafting its destiny.
